Scholarships

Tom Janke loved hockey, particularly when his two sons Bryan and Zach were on the ice. He was dedicated to volunteering in any way that he could to make the South Wood County Youth Hockey Association (SWCYHA) and South Wood County Recreation Center (SWCRC) a better place for all families. Tom served on the Board of Directors for SWCYHA from 1996 - 2004, including five years as President and Vice President. Following his passing on December 29, 2015, the Tom Janke Scholarship Memorial Fund was established to carry on Tom’s work and dedication to the community. Funds from the Tom Janke Memorial Fund are intended to support boys and girls at the mite-bantam age level in their desire to play hockey for the SWCYHA. Each year, efforts are made to support association families with this fund.

For the 2026-27 season, four (4) scholarships equaling $200 each will be awarded to association member families. Awarded scholarships will only go towards the current season's SWCYHA registration fees - equipment, volunteer requirements and USA Hockey fees will not be covered.
