Season Registration
Welcome to the South Wood County Youth Hockey Association 2026-2027 Season!
Registration will open on JULY 1st!
Ages
What aged players are appropriate for this program?
Ages 4-14
When
What time of the year does this program run?
Practices begin the last week in September/first week in October.
Tryouts third week in October.
Playdowns first weekend in February
State Tournament first weekend in March.
Where
Where are practices and games typically held?
South Wood County Recreation Center. Away games dependent on schedule.
Practices
When are practices and how often are they?
2-3 times per week for 60-75 mins.
Games
How many games will they play? What days of the week?
Mites participate in Jamborees and League games. Jamborees fall on Saturdays and/or Sundays and League games typically Sundays.
Squirts-Bantams will play 20-30 games over the course of the season and will usually fall on the weekends.
Jerseys
Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?
Jerseys and socks are purchased separately via our online store with JOG.
Jerseys are used year after year and only new purchase if new player or new size is needed.
Extra Costs
What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?
Jersey and sock cost typically runs $70
SWCYHA covers the cost of one tournament per team, per season. If more are desired then cost is covered among team families or by securing a sponsor.
Volunteer Requirements
What are the Volunteer expectations?
We operate on a DIBS system. A DIB is equal to 1 hour of service. 16 DIBS are required per family for the season.
Most DIBS are earned in our Concessions (2 hour shifts) and via our fundraising event, Sportsman's Banquet (held in mid February)

Does the Registration Cost need to be paid in full at time of registration?
No, you can elect to make payments throughout the season.
Is there financial assistance available?
Yes, we offer scholarships to families in need of help with registration costs.
What equipment is needed and do I have to buy it all?
Mini-Mites and Mites can rent full equipment from SWCYHA for the season for $40. A $200 deposit is required and refunded upon equipment return.
Squirts and up do need to provide their own equipment.

SWCYHA 2026-2027 Season
This registration session will allow you to sign concussion forms, code of conduct, volunteer agreement, complete contact information, and submit payment. To complete registration through our secure site, please have your credit/debit card information available. Following the completion of this registration, you will see a charge on your account from South Wood County Youth Hockey Association.
The first step to Registration is registering with USA Hockey. You'll be directed to the USA Hockey registration website after clicking on "Register". Once you have your season USA Hockey number you'll be directed back to Crossbar registration.
