2017 Red Raider Summer Hockey League
League Information The Red Raider Summer Hockey League has been established to allow Mite through Bantam age players the opportunity to have fun while improving their hockey skills. The league will consist of two divisions broken down by birth year and playing experience. All games will be played at the South Wood County Recreation Center in Wisconsin Rapids. Sign up is on a first-come first-served basis, no exceptions. Registrations must be received no later than, and Wednesday, July 26 (PeeWee/Bantam & Mite/Squirt). Each player will be emailed a confirmation notice approximately 5 days prior to the league start date with his or her team assignment and game schedule.
Session I: PeeWee / Bantam
Any player that will be a PeeWee or Bantam during the 2017-2018 season is eligible with the exception of any players who will be Freshman in the upcoming school year, as they will be asked to skate in the High School League. Again for this year for the PeeWee / Bantam age group, we have designed a summer program that offers both skill development sessions and small area games sessions each night. All skill sessions will be led by a member of the LHS High School Hockey Coaching Staff. Skill sessions will focus on individual skills and will focus on puck handling skills, passing, and shooting. Small area games will give individuals a chance to continue to work on skill development, while at the same time work with teammates in a controlled competitive environment.
Sessions II: Mite / Squirt
Any player that will be a Mite or Squirt during the 2017-2018 season is eligible for this session. Again this year for the Mite / Squirt group we will be combining skill development and small games to push your hockey player to the next level. This program is setup in a camp format where these young players will receive both individual skill development sessions and small area games sessions each night.
Rules All sessions will be a “no check” with USA HOCKEY rules being enforced. Any player who continually takes penalties may be asked to sit out
